7 Essential Steps To Overcome Self-Doubt So You Can Believe In Yourself

If you don't believe in yourself how can you expect others to believe in you? If you don’t believe in yourself how can you create your dream life? If you don’t believe in yourself, what the heck are you even doing? Before I get into the 7 essential steps I want to first tell you, you are not here because you’re meant to NOT believe in yourself.

In fact, you are here for the complete opposite reason. God, the universe, a higher power, whoever you believe in, believes in you and you’re meant to believe in yourself too. You deserve to believe and embrace your authentic self so you can be happy and share your awesomeness with the world.

On the other hand, I get it. You are here right now because self-doubt has the tendency to creep up in your life when you didn’t even invite it. Yet, there is it, in your head banging on the door of your mind to make you feel unworthy, unloved, not smart enough, not pretty enough, and afraid. I know the feeling because I’ve struggled with this in the past. To be honest, self-doubt still creeps up sometimes because hey, I’m only human. But I've learned how to manage it but catching it quickly and change my story of self-doubt to one of self-love and self-confidence. I want you to be able to do the same, so if you’re ready to learn my 7 essential steps to overcoming self-doubt, keep reading. 7 Essential Steps To Overcome Self-Doubt So You Can Believe In Yourself.

 

1. Tell Yourself “No”

Self-Doubt can be, excuse my language, a pain in the ass. It has the ability to stop us in our tracks and prevent us from moving forward with confidence and a strong belief in ourselves. Self-Doubt is the backstabber to our very existence and it’s only goal is to beat our confidence down, but we can’t and won’t let that continue to happen, will we? 

 

Nope! So when a thought, that is saturated in self-doubt, appears in your beautiful mind I want you to tell it “No.” Let this thought know, it is not welcome, it will not be tolerated, and it will not win. Words are powerful and if you use yours with the intention of blocking out negative self-doubting thoughts, you will be able to believe in yourself again.

2. Change The Lies Masquerading As Truths

The thoughts of self-doubt invading your mind are not even true. They become present in order to make you believe they are. You could be amazing at work, in your life, and in your relationship but self-doubt will make you feel otherwise. You’ll start thinking you don’t deserve this persons' love, you aren’t good enough to have this job, you’re a fraud, if you speak up you’ll ask a dumb question and everyone will laugh at you. 

 

I want you to get good at recognizing these thoughts so you can flip the script on them. Change the whole language to your negative thoughts, into positive ones that celebrate you and what makes you a phenomenal bad ass. Some great examples can be found here. 

 

3. Keep Learning And Growing

If you truly feel unprepared to do something because of a lack of knowledge, make an intentional effort to fuel your brain. Pick up a book, sign up for a class, hire a coach, do research online. Use your amazing brain power to build your knowledge to the point where you feel over prepared and fully equipped to feel confident in your experience.

4. Learn And Leave You're Mistakes Behind

It's common for people who have suffered a setback, mistake, or failure to have trouble building their confidence back up. It's usually because they are dwelling on their mistakes and reliving the constant feeling of failure, instead of moving forward. Mistakes happen, we're human, but we must not repeatedly punish ourselves for our mistakes and poor choices. It's our job to learn from then and grow from them.

 

5. Tell yourself you believe in you (Every single day)

If self-doubt is a habitual nuisance for you, combat that with your own form of habitual reassurance. Remind yourself daily, with positive affirmations, how amazing, worthy capable, intelligent, creative, and strong you are. 6. Take Inspired Action

Action breeds success. You can read 20 books about learning how to be a successful blogger, but if you’ve never written a blog in your life, at that moment you are not a successful blogger. I get that action can be a little scary, especially if you're trying something new, but the reward is so much better. There are so many useful lessons that are waiting for you on the other side of self-doubt. You just have to follow my five powerful ways and you’ll see for yourself. 

 

7. Don't Be Afraid To Be Confident

People often times lack confidence because they're afraid they'll seem arrogant or cocky. We've all seen a cocky person at least once and our lives and we definitely don't want to be like that person. I don't want you to arrogantly walk around thinking you're better then everyone else. Instead, I want you to think you're the best version of yourself. Be Proud of who you are and confidently carry yourself this way.
